Chit Chat is an accomplished musician and songwriter having been the driving force behind one of Australia's most popular and creative alternative bands, Machine Gun Fellatio. Now as host of 'Planet Rock' ® - Australia's most popular syndicated rock radio show, he's ready to unleash his wit, humour, experience and opinion on the show (and an unsuspecting audience).
From humble beginnings in Newcastle crushing cardboard boxes in the local supermarket, to directing blue movies and touring the country with Machine Gun Fellatio, Chit Chat's professional past brings a fresh approach and a new colour to Planet Rock.
You might not know, but he co-wrote the Whitlams' ARIA-winning No Aphrodisiac, a modern Australian classic. He also wrote Fake That Emotion with Tex Perkins and earned an Australian Film Institute nomination for the soundtrack to the comedy Getting' Square.
His passion for music is evident when he talks about presenting on Planet Rock. "Researching the show is challenging, but I think it's the best bit of the job. It's always the artist you think is crap that you end up falling in love with when you've researched them."
Being a songwriter himself, Chit Chat has an appreciation for musical composition and lyricism. "From a songwriter's point of view I think U2's song, "One", is perfect. Every line is better than the last and musically it builds and builds."
"I'd have to say though, that Tom Waits' "Picture in a Frame" is my favourite song ever. To write poetry in simple language is hard, to tell a story of genuine love and respect in five different lines is incredible."
